Hi Tina, I have been doing some research on attachment theory and came acroos your name. My son is seven months old and I am currently in a custody battle with his father  I am trying to work out an appropriat visiting schedule with his father who want half custody. I am already noticing distressed behaviors from going back and forth so much. Any suggestions or resources would be greatly appreciated. thanks

    Hi Mindi.

I’m sorry to hear about your custody battle. I know that must be very stressful. I’d highly suggest a book for you and your ex called “Coping with Divorce the Sandcastles Way” by Gary Neuman. He discusses shared custody in depth.

The most important thing for your son is to have his needs met consistently and quickly and to have his caregivers attune to him and his needs. I can’t give specific advice in this forum without knowing more specifics. I do phone consultations if you’d like to discuss further.

Good luck to you and your son. He’s lucky to have a mom who is advocating for him and attuning to any distress he’s experiencing and working to be sensitive to his needs.
